A Florist

I start to learn the 'Art of Floral Design' this summer vacation. Reading some books I borrowed form the NTU library and browsing some websites of the flower designer, schools, or associations, I found that being a florist is not only the flower arranger, but a deep-thinking man who has a more complicated relationship between his materials and his customs.

A florist must be a person who connects the plant materials to human life, because he is not put the plant materails all together only, but treat them with his aesthetically imaginative creativity to link up the both. For this reason, a florist have to be fully sophisticated in life with his closest understanding of the metaphorical meaning, evocative inspiration, and the possible effect of each flower, or he could not use one plant material in perspective.

Learning the art of floral design is not only the history, theory, and skill, but your more familiar relationship between human and nature, individual and social, and the art and science.
